Many individuals and more than one organisation have contributed towards making this material available.
The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers' Lancashire region museum in Bury preserved these documents from the destruction which would otherwise have befallen them, and the museum's Custodian, Tony Sprason, recognised their importance and brought them to the attention of researchers.
The transcription of the documents, all hand-written in Victorian style in various degrees of legibility, was carried out by members of the Crimean War Research Society. David Kelsey undertook the principal transcribing, and was advised on points of detail and difficulty by Rod Robinson (then the Chairman of the Society), Bill Curtis (then its Vice Chairman), Colin Robins (the editor of the Society's journal), and Mike Hargreave Mawson (then the Society's Publicity and Promotions Officer). Other members of the Society who made significant contributions included Dr Douglas J Austin, Mike Hinton, Ken Horton (now sadly deceased), Tony James, Ron McGuigan, Tom Muir, and Hugh Small.
The well-informed discussions on the Yahoo! Crimean War group were mined to solve some of the questions thrown up by the documents and to fill some of the gaps. Thanks are due to all those who helped, and apologies to those whose names have been unintentionally omitted.
