Sir — It is only right to state that since the passage relating to the two 18-pounders at Inkerman, in the review of Mr Kinglake’s fifth volume, appeared in The Times, I have satisfied myself that the time at which these guns were brought into action was 9.30 am, as stated by Mr Kinglake, and that the order for their despatch to the front was received by Colonel Gambler at or about 8.30 am.
